Joe them old marquis and lincoln town cars would get 18 to 20 with the cruise set on 100 my parents had a 69 marquis with a 429 that I went a hundred and over everwhere I went and always got 19 20 mpg. I had a 74 that would too. My 87 towncar with overdrive and fuel injected 302 would get 27 with the cruise on 75 all day long but my 89 same car would only get 22. So I really liked the old ones with the 460's better more power and a C6 and nearly the mileage. The 70's 1/2 two wheel drive pickups with460's would get 16 to17 and no better with a 360 so which would rather have.

They may not even do it on todays gasoline. In the old days I could cross new mexico in 3 hours and 20 gallons of gas and never pay over 50 cents a gallon now we have what is known as progress as in saving the planet. Oh yea and 7000 got you a loaded new ford pickup.

Guys I ain't buying a 6600 pound, 20 foot long car to save any gas lol

It's only gonna be used as a weekend driver or for long trips!

And I really love the fact that it's got 3.73 gearing, moves like i've never seen a car that big move before!!

I guess I won't be putting an IDI in the car....sitting on that frame anyways haha

If I do run aross a F250 frame the right lenght for the body, hell I might just do it! (who knows when that will be) but one day.....it will happen

Would be awesome to get a 4x4 frame to. Go offroading in the comfort and luxury of the 1970's lol

Same here!

I'm a huge "Land Yaght" lover!

My favorites are

1975-78 Mercury Marquis
1977-79 Lincoln Continental
1976-78 Chrysler New Yorker
1969-74 Cadillac Deville

I also love Ford trucks from pretty all years of the 70's era.

And pretty much all years of the 60's Chevy trucks.

And I can't forget Dodge, the Dodge trucks I love are from 1981-1992.

I'm sure I missed some so I apoligise to the countries I missed.

Gees and a lot of these also sell us our lawn mowers, motorcycles boatmotors,etc.etc.etc.etc........................ ..... now I wander why the country is in bad shape and the manufacturing is gone. I gotta have me another ford now.

Ahhhh geeessss did I forget those again??

Sorry, I never get a chance to see what kind of cars those are, most of them I can't see infront of me over my hood at a red light.

Especially the ones with the big ugly fart can mufflers that sound exactly like my electric shaver.

some in your list have been owned by ford for a while now.like the jag for example.mazda too i think?

edit.oops, seems im behind as well.looks like they sold jag in 08.i think they owned jag for about 10-15 years prior tho.dunno about the others.
according to just a brief search tho:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_other...or_company_own

not that it matters much anymore.for the past 20-30 yrs, there's not been any such thing as a solely domestic made ford or anything for that matter lol.
for trucks: my 85(first and last 2wd i'l ever own.loved that truck tho!man i miss the easy steering of those yrs!) not sure about my 96 but i think it was too, and now my 93 where made in Canada.

Ford once owned 33% of mazda but controlled the company they sold 20% and no longer controll it. They used to own jaguar and land rover but have sold them.

I had a 79 Marquis, those things had frames.
And yes they got rather decent mileage out on the highway.

But I bet the cross member under the oil pan would be a problem with the IDI in there.

Yeah I guess the front end parts wouldn't last as long as they should with an IDI in there.

The car only does weigh 6598 pounds

a car weighs more than my truck with engine? holy WTF?
