I was just on ebay and seen a set of 6.9 heads (remaned used) for less than $400. I just paid that apiece just 2 months ago for mine! Man I never catch the good deals.
Look at it this way, you don't know what problems could come with the ebay heads, (ex:guides, valves, cracks, ect.). I'm leary about buying heads unless I can physically look at them first. For all you know they could be 7.3 heads that someone thinks they're for a 6.9. Over 100lbs. that's alot to pay for shipping if there is a problem.
Yea you may be right. I bought mine from clearwater cyclinder heads in florida. I think it was plc7.3 that turned me on to them and I thank him for that. They do a nice job on their remans. They were resurfaced with new valves, srpings-keepers, plugs and even the bolt bosses were ground flat. They acid wash them then magnaflux for cracks etc.. And they were fast on the work, less than a week to my door. As for the 7.3 rockers I am still searching the bone yards for a 7.3 to get a set.
If so it would be nice. I want to do as much as possible to this engine to make it last. I am only 41 but I plan to drive this truck till I die. Unless the tree huggers make me park her lol. But I know that if I had a set laying around I would probably hold on to them for myself. These parts are getting harder to find anymore and the cost of new is going up all the time.
LMOA I once bought a 78 4x off ebay once that run but needed a little tlc and when I picked it up the front driveline was in the seat with the yoke from the front end still on it the pinion was twisted off. They didn't lie it needed tlc.
One time I drove all the way to rawlins wy, for a idi 4x with a rust free body and bad motor oh i mean surface rust only well after 650 miles Icould see through and stick all my fingers through the surface rust above the wheel wells in the bed The cab was good though and I had no use for the bed as it was coming off anyway the funny thing was the motor was good he just couldn't get it to start.
This pickup was refered to me by a friend of a friend so you never know until you look at it what you are getting.
I bought the whole reason that brought me to this forum off CL for $300 and it's getting ready to tow home a 24' travel trailer tomorrow, off CL I only buy local though so I can see before I buy anything off there.
