Having trouble with signal stat turn signal switch

I'm just not getting this diagram. I understand the front I have installed dual filiments up there, but not the rear. Could someone walk me through it. I have a new harness so I have a single tail/park/ license plate lamp wire and I have left and right turn signal wires. I did not hook up any wires to my brake switch yet. I'm using a 7 wire turn signal setup but I just don;t understand the wiring to the brake line switch and back?

I think they forgot to connect the hot wire going to the brake switch. Hot going to the switch. Black/grey going from the brake switch to the turn signal switch with a connector from that wire to the brake lights on the truck. If someone doesn't show up soon, I have a signal stat wiring diagram but it's in the shop and will be tomorrow before I can look at it. They show the grey to left brake light filament and the black to the right rear bright filament and the black/grey going from right to left bright filament and back to the turn signal switch. When the brakes are applied the black/grey lights both lights, when the turn signal switch is activated to right, the internal part of the switch brakes the brake light from both side to only the left brake light and the right will blink and reverse for the other side.
I hope this helps and hopefully I am correct.

so the the brake signal goes through the turn signal switch? and the parking lights are left alone.

I'll run a hot line to one side of the brake switch and grey/black to the other. and the rest I understand...

Yes the brakes lights do go through the turn signal switch and the dim filament or parking light on front and tail light on the rear are not switched by the signal stat unit.
I wire my brake lights hot all the time through a fuse so they will work if the key is off, however many will argue to use a switched lead to the brake light in case the switch sticks and leave the brake lights on. With a switched lead it will turn off the stuck light when you turn off the key.
Hope this helps. Larry

If that doesn't fix it you might have to mount separate turn signal lights. That is what I did. Someone told me if your truck did not come with turn signals (they were added later by the dealer or owner to conform to state regs) then there is no way one light will handle tail light, brake light and turnsignal lights.

That depends on the number of wires on the turn signal switch. The 7 wire switch will use the existing lights if you add the dual filament bulbs to front and rear sockets.
I think a 5 or 6 wire was also available and it was designed to use separate front and rear lights. I am operating totally from memory, which is drawing social security along with the rest of me, so I could be wrong, all my diagrams are at the shop. From Julies and the diagram posted by Norvillebob they both are 7 wire and work using existing 2 filament bulbs.
I have a 7 wire signal stat on my 46 merc. which had dual filament tail/brake lights and single filament front parking lights. I added dual filament bulbs and sockets to the front and wires and the above diagrams and they worked great.

Here's a pretty good discussion about turn signal installation if you want to read through it.
