For a while this particular section of FTE operated without a moderator. Perhaps the way it functions now is related to that. Anyway, this particular section seems to flow without a lot of moderator interference. I know that it is not because of a lack of supervision on the moderator's part, but a conscious decision to allow what some sites won't.
I believe this approach not only enhances the experience for more members, but elevates the quality and quantity of posts involved. Too many times on other sites or even other areas in FTE, as soon as a post veered slightly off topic, a moderator felt compelled to issue an admonishing, and that was the post that seemed useless and out of place.
The slightly more laid -back approach here not only encourages more participation, but gives the threads a more real life feel, like a bunch of buddies coming together to solve one of their problems with the particular vehicle of the group. While this is in process, there will always be a guy cutting up, some good natured bantering, and especially some talk about other subjects while the problem at hand gets sorted out. Imagine how popular a guy would be in that setting who sat up and said- "lets stick to the problem at hand here- that crap is off-track." He better be big- that's all I got to say.
Anyway, that's my take. It's entirely possible that there is a majority percentage out there whose feelings are entirely counter to this, (although I doubt it). So- chime in.
I think this is the best section of the best forum on the whole Internet, and it is in part due to the core structure of the way it is operated. Responses either way would be great.
But we are also flying unde rthe radar - we do not stir up a bunch of crap, attracting a lot of bad publicity.
Nothing here really seems to be that offensive, and I like that we can also stretch out a little bit and not strictly adhere to a certain post.
A lot of it has to do with the respect we have for each other. Look at Pirate - people are flamed and messed with all the time. We are in a pretty good place here.
By the way, I thought Scott was our moderator. He has been pretty good with us.
So far my experience here has been pretty good, my thread seems to have switched from one thing to another in a slight way but I have no problem with it. Everyone is really helpful and not extremely rude.
Sure you guys kinda hijacked my thread but my questions still get answered which is all that counts for me. So yeah I like how it is so far.

That pretty well sums up what I'm trying to say, We may go in different directions, but the real focus never changes, we just take liberties on going off-topic a bit.
I think it helps keep some threads from going stagnant as well, because it keeps them fresh while the OP tries to implement the various suggestions.

Fordborn is our "official moderator". However like I said, he hasn't been around in years.
The other mods come around from time to time, like Horsepuller, and Franklin2. They can help if needed.
But as other people have noticed. We pretty much have a respect here for others that other forums do not have. I like it alot. Doesn't require the moderation like other places, due to that respect.
"How tough are these trucks-1984 F250" I apologize, twinpeaks, if you read this, for hijacking your thread. I hope we did a good enough job of answering your questions there.
Personally I could care less if one of my threads gets hijacked as long as I get my questions answered. But I think the general chatting and conversation is very entertaining.
And yes this has got to be the best section of FTE. I have no issues with anybody in the 1980-1986 forum section.
Seriously, I love this side of the forum. It seems like we got a really good group of guys and gals in here. Folks may get off topic or a little snarky at times, but in the end it all works out without much fuss. This is probably the friendliest forum as well... I tried posting in another forum on here looking for a buddies old truck and all I got was a bunch of bs about how his truck wasn't the trim level he said it was and how he didn't know what he had, blah, blah, blah... no wishes of good luck in finding it and no info found... just bitchin. I bet you dollars to donuts if it was posted in here you would of seen a lot of "good lucks" posted to the thread. Long story short... yes, I like the way things are run here. If ain't broke... please don't fix it.
FTE in general is the best forum I've ever been a part of, and the 80-86 section is the section I'm around the most! Being a kid who was raised in the internet generation, I've been a part of many forums around the web, all of which I quit/went idle on because of immaturity, flame wars, and people being generally annoying. FTE, though (maybe because it consists of a large majority of adults instead of 10-year-old self-proclaimed geniuses), is always helpful and the freedom on the 80-86 section especially is greatly welcome! It's a great example of people not abusing freedom, but using it to its maximum potential instead!
yes, i have to agree. i used to joke i was having buddies and beer over to work on the truck, take the computer to the garage, and drink the beer myself (hope you guys enjoyed it ). of course, if i'm not in here, i'm over on the inline-six section, and it has a lot of the same guys, so a really similar laid back attitude, i can't speak for a lot of the rest of the site. i like things the way they are, we do a good job monitoring ourselves, the way it should be.
this by far is the best site i use.i really like the laid back atmosphere,we seem to treat every body with respect no matter the age or mechanical ability.
plus these are my favorite style of truck.LOL
I have to agree with everything I have read. Everyone here is like a good buddy. We have our differences on occasion but always get over it pretty quick. BTW I have a 84 F250 that I love to death. 460, C6, 4x4, 4.10
Plus: My questions always get answered, and you get a few good stories in the process.
