Degas bottle MIN/MAX levels...

COuld you guy's refresh my memory, I can't seem to locate it in any of the older threads..but I recall a that Ford put the incorrect stickers on the degas bottle for min/max levels....what is the correct level for coolant in the degas bottle on a 2007 6 litre...?

Fill it to about half full by eye when cold.

Then go grab a beer and enjoy the holidays.

I think by 2007 they had that issue corrected and the marking on the bottle should be correct.

What he said. If it is corrected, running at the min will hurt nothing. If not corrected, above the min. could cause puking.

Did you use a level to verify that the bottle was level and then a micrometer to measure the level accurately?

Don't forget now... you have to correct for temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, and also variations in the earths gravity where you are!

Above joke intended.

Above joke intended.
And I included my astrological sign into the final calculation too !

I would add that in order to precisely establish the correct degassed level you should put a vaccum on the system and hold less than 0.1 atmosphere for at least 30 minutes, thus ensuring a liquid collant only measurement. Finally, do not forget that as the temperature changes, so does the size of the degass container and the porosity of the metals so you really need a finite element analysis of the entire system to predict the exact correct level at each temperature....

Mines on "min" when cold, 2003 model.

You also forgot to calculate for the expansion of the rubber hoses!

If you have a "sticker", it is probably correct. The problem was the levels molded into the plastic degas bottle. Stickers were used to correct that.

You all are embarrassing me with the pictures of your white degas bottles. Mine is a dark yellow. Think it may be time to replace?
