Contemplating new truck purchase

I currently have a 2006 F350 6.0 drw with only 127k miles on it and is untouched and bone stock. Its been a great truck for the past 20k miles i have put on it and is my daily driver. Here lately i have been kinda thinking of looking into a new truck to get something that has a little better creature comforts on the inside and rides a little better. I know that im dealing with a one ton truck and its not going to ride like a caddy but have been curious if the 2011 and newer one tons ride any better than my 2006. I know the creature comforts are better but don't know about the ride.

I have a 37ft camper we tow with it and are also looking at going with a bigger toy hauler here next year and my 2006 maxes out at 15,800 for towing so wanting to get something with a higher towing capacity. So that basically leaves me with going with the 6.7 diesel as a gas motor just wont have the power to tow heavy camper. Are there anything i should look for on say 2011-2013 6.7's? I recently found a 2011 F450 king ranch at the dealership with 80k miles on it that im thinking of going and looking at. Its just kinda hard thinking of spending 40 grand on 9 year old truck with that many miles on it. How much different would this 2011 f450 be at daily driving compared to my 2006 f350?

Any insight on going from the 6.0 to a 6.7 and what might be good to look for would be helpful. I currently have torque pro that i use to monitor my 6.0 so thought about seeing to use that to monitor a 6.7 during a test drive.

Thanks,
Ben

I had a 2013 drw 6.7 that was a darn oood truck. I would go for that year or newer.

2011's had some growing pains and the ceramic turbo bearings were no good. I 2013's came on with better stuff and 2015 and up more stuff and exhaust brake.

Coming from a Ford dealership technician who has been with Ford since 2000, and turning wrenches for a living for almost thirty years, I'll bite...

My previous truck was a 2007 F-250 CCSB 4x4 XLT 6.0 purchased used in September of 2011 with 114K kms (71K miles). I owned, drove and maintained that truck until I sold it at 212K kms (132K miles) in July of 2015, to get into my special ordered 2016 F-250 CCSB 4x4 XLT 6.7 that I took possession of on the end of August of that year. Fast forward to today, at 121K kms (75K miles) and counting.... I'm still very happy with it! As far as ride quality is concerned? Obviously the newer truck does ride substantially smoother than the older truck. The power is night and day different between the two. The bonus? The 6.7 won't give you the headaches the 6.0 does. Just make sure you NEVER mistakenly gas up or DEF up your fuel tank. Do the maintenance on schedule and you're good to go.

My take, perhaps being man out, is the only way my F350’s ride is tolerable is if the tires are aired down running empty or else carrying a load. Otherwise it is buckboard rough.

With us looking at a new fifth wheel toy hauler im trying to think of all the different trucks that are out there. From looking up on fords site it shows that with the right options the new 7.3 gas motor can tow up to 20k lbs. Since this would be my daily driver mostly and only towing the camper 1-2 times a month during the summer im starting to wonder if going gas would be a better decision. Just wondering how the 7.3 would do towing 16k pounds on occasion. We are in northern Indiana so dont really have any big hills to climb.

Just trying to weigh out all the options before spending a bunch of money on a truck.

f you plan to stay with a smaller 5th wheel and don't plan any extended trips, stay within a couple of hundred miles or less of home, then a 7.3 with 4.30 gears would be perfect.

The camper we are looking at has a gross max weight of around 16k lbs. From my looking I think if I went with the 4.30's and the right packages it should be ok. We normally stay within a couple hours of home when going camping.

You are basically flat land towing short distances. Seems to me investing in a diesel for such limited use is a heck of an investment unless you just gotta have one!

That's why I'm trying to look at all my options. I currently have a 6.0 diesel but it's also 15 years old and I know things are gonna start failing on it. After all the research I've been doing on the 7.3 and the less initial cost and maintenance compared to a diesel I think that's the way I'm gonna go towards. Thank you all for your help and insights.
