Factory stripes?

Hello, I am interested in painting a stripe on my truck, and I saw the style that I want(it was on an old bumpside that I saw a few months ago), but the problem is that I haven't seen that truck around lately. If anyone has a picture of the stripe that I am talking about, and could post it on here, that would be great. The way the stripe was...it was like it was draped across the rear of the hood(it appeared to be about 5-8 inches wide), following the line that meets up with the cab. Then it goes down each side of the hood and onto the area of the cab that is between the hood and the door. When the stripe curves it gets thinner and then goes the entire length of the truck(above the bumpside line), but I am not sure where it ends up. If anyone knows what I am referring to, and has a pic...please post it, or tell me a place where I might locate pics of factory stripe options. Thanks!

There was no such thing as factory stripes for any F100/350 until 1973.

There are no stripes of any kind illustrated in the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog for F100/350's, no part numbers are listed for stripes, either.

What you are describing are either aftermarket stripes or more likely...someone painted them on....using their own design.

From your description, there was no stripe like that used on any 1973 and newer Ford trucks.

I was afraid of that. Well, I guess I will just have to come up with my own design and run with it. The stripe did look good on the truck though. The truck was a turquoise color with the stripe done in white.

Thanks! I greatly appreciate the info!

Looks like a variation of the Boss 302 stripe

The only thing that comes remotely close is the 1975 F-series Explorer special Stripe. It drapes across the hood, and goes down the sides above the dent simular to what he wants, however they dont get narrower toward the end...

That was the first thing I looked at in the '73/79 catalog.

But...it doesn't match the OP's description and the stripe Brady posted a pic of...is what we used to call a gypo part = not genuine Ford.

This type of stripe could be used on any car or truck, Ford or otherwise and IMO, it's fugly.

autoanything.com sells similar stripes.

I found the exact stripe that I saw on that truck from my original post! These pics sre from a post on the bumpside forum. I'm sure, like NumberDummy said, it's probably not a factory stripe, but it does look like it is an older after market stick-on. I will post a rendering of what my truck will look like(as soon as I get done sketching it) on this thread, and on the bumpside forum.

Hm... I'm no pro here, but those stripes could be factory, that truck is a dentside and has the Explorer trim so it's a possibility at least. Regardless, I'm sure you will be able to find them somewhere, and they'd look good on a bumpside too!

That's the 1975 Explorer stripes that Numberdummy and I were talking about earlier.

That is a factory stripe and it was only used on the 1975 Explorer special.

Here's another 1975 Explorer same stripe, different colors...
