4x4 broke??
Auto lock not working... got the advice to go to manual hubs which is fine and easy enough, but with the holidays and all, haven' had time or money....
now the manual way of locking in won't work either. Lock them manually and it still won't lock in. Checked a fuse or two RE the book, all ok. Was a 15 amp in the cab and 30 amp under the hood.
Is it now determined to be some kind of activator motor thats out, if so where is it, and how hard to replace and where to buy? I don't want to replace it with a cheap POS but not having 4x4 I had to push my truck up the boat ramp Sunday wiht my airboat. Lucky I was using the airboat and not the bay boat... that extra 500HP pushing the truck helped.
THanks, Jeff
Shifting manually can be done by removing the actuator and turning small fastener inside. You will require a 14mm end wrench, or 9/16".
Once the actuator is removed you can clearly see what I am talking about.
Once the actuator is changed, the 4wd should work again.
Although, I would verify voltage at the actuator before I purchased a new unit from Ford. The selector switch has been known to fail as well.
Same for the selector switch?
Replace with ford only or thats probably the only choice I'm guessing.
