New Ford 5.0 power numbers

While this is the 5.0 for the 2011 Mustang, we all know about the speculation of the 5.0 making its way into the F-150. Autoblog and Autoweek are confirming that it'll make 412 HP, BUT....it's going to make 390 TQ and it's at 6500 RPM. That may be good for the Mustang but what kind of tuning will it take by Ford to make it a competent towing / hauling engine for the F-150?

2011 Ford Mustang: Five-Point-Oh is now 412 hp

Confirmed: 2011 Ford Mustang GT to offer 412-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 — Autoblog

Everything I've read so far is saying F-150 numbers will be around 365 / 400.

I know Ford sold Range Rover, but Range Rover just came out with a 5.0 N/A V8. It's rated at 375/375. I wonder if that is the coyote engine?

Hate to say it but I drove a new Camaro with the 426HP engine and it is wicked, hope Ford jumps on the wagon soon.

Short Answer is NO. This is a new engine design, not based off of the Land Rover. The LR engine also requires premium fuel to reach those #'s, this engine will only need pump gas. I cannot confirm this but others have over at blueovalnews. Just as the 6.2 is a brand new engine design too.

Probably real close. Blue 2 over at bon says to expect at least 365 hp.

He didnt mention torque. What do you think on mpg? 15/21 maybe? Darn F150 has a lot of weight to move. It will be really interesting to see the torque curve. I am pretty sure this will make the Gm 5.3 look pretty bad.

You guys really think the 5.3 is that bad? Whenever i've driven a GM truck with a 5.3 it always feels more powerful than my Ford with the 5.4. Or does that all change when you load it with something heavy?

I'm not complaining about my 5.4 being underpowered, but I can admit it when other trucks feel more powerful.

It will need revamped tuning, a much longer runner intake and a more restrictive exhaust to get the torque numbers up in a usable power range unless the truck comes with 5.13 gears to keep the revs up to the moon
