water/fuel separator dash lite????

just curious but does everbody's dash lite come on when their water needs to be drained?? i've owned my truck for three years and about 20,000 miles and have never seen mine come on. i've drained it a bunch of times on my own every few months but just realized i've never seen the dash lite come on, i know its there, i can see it in certain sunlite but its never illuminated, maybe i'm draining it before the dash lite calls for it???
just curious......

Mine has been on for a few days. I drained the bowl with the valve yesterday and the light is out now. You are doing a good thing by draining the bowl every couple months.

I have had my truck for over five years and I have never seen the light illuminate. This may be due to the fact that I only buy fuel from stations that see alot of diesel sales....ie truck stops.

Not really. Rick doesn't count as a full 50%

He's got an inbed steel tank that is more prone to condensation down in the swampland. That's more likely to cause some water issues.

I bought my truck new in 02 and in 314k miles, I've never had my light come on except when I had a little issue with a chaffed wire that caused a stall.

I did get a bad batch of fuel in a 99 that made the light come on within 1 mile of the station. There's not supposed to be water in our fuel, so you're not supposed to see the light unless something is wrong.
