Thumbs up Any pics of a original 1956 f100 with air conditioning?

I just hauled home another 56 F100 YBLOCK with 3 speed trans.
It sold on ebay and is a Las Vegas 43k black beauty. Totally stock....and I also got another tailgate....and a bunch of parts that were in the truck.

I would like to see a pic of a known original.
Thanks...............Bill

mr4speedford is starting off with a positive reputation.
Air conditioning was not a factory option. Ford had A/C available in cars but not trucks. Now out west, I'm sure dealers had retrofit kits that would place the underdash ford unit in a truck or a similar aftermarket kit. Unless you have paperwork from the dealer stating they installed it, I wouldn't get over excited about being rare.

The dealer installed A/C was the "Economy" Polar-Aire unit, a recirculating system which used a white molded plastic case with five 4" round registers, three at the front, one on each side.

There's no pic of it in the 1948/56 truck parts catalog. I haven't seen a 1956 Ford Truck Accessory brochure since grandma was a gal, so I don't know if it's pictured there...or not.

If the case does not have a Polar-Aire nameplate on it, it's "gypo" A/C.

Here on the West Coast Air Cold Sales installed several different A/C's for dealers. One was called Climatic-Air.

btw: There were two different accessory brochures.

The freebie that was given way, and a much larger and different version showing all kinds of stuff y'all prolly have never seen...or heard of (like a vacuum ashtray!) that was used strictly by partsguys.

Try and find one a these puppies! I have these for 1965/67, but they won't do y'all any good.

Thanks Bill. I know in Las Vegas , where the truck came from it is hot. Helen, the original owner's wife said the a.c. was installed before they brought it home.
The climatic air is stamped on the brackets.
It says clima air.....Los Angelas California.
Most Ohio guys would never see a 56 f100 with air.
How many with air from 1956 will be yet to see. My buddy with the Mentor Museum is also trying to figure how many were installed.
N.D. Nice to hear from you.
Bill
