'01 Exp 5.4 won't start - Help

I recently pruchased a '01 Exp with a 5.4 litre engine with 60k miles. I took it to the the do it yourself car wash and when I went to start it, it would turn over and did not start. Had to tow it home. I am familiar with 70s ignition systems (DSII) but I don't even know what this is.

Does anyone know what Ford calls this ignition system used on this year of vehicle.l. Also any suggestions on where to start to check troubleshoot?

Thank You.

You probably have coil-on-plug ignition. The first thing to check is the codes in the computer.

A simple OBDII should be all you need, nothing fancy. If you could get it to one of the auto stores, they could check the codes for you.
