Probably cost a few bucks if the tranny is going. I assume Automatic?
When you say jerky do you mean it shifted up and down or it just bounced around in the same gear? If it's shifted up and down rapidly it may be an issue with a sensor. The computer on the truck looks at throttle position sensor, MAP sensor, Vehicle Speed Sensor and manual lever position sensor to determine shift points. Start by checking for any codes,
If its just slipping you can try and change fluid/filter but likely you will need a rebuild. These transmissions aren't cheap even a used one can go for $700 maybe more because your 4X4.
Post in the transmission section but let them know if your running an E4OD or an 4R70W (not sure what came in a '95) and you will get more insight.
Good luck,
Frank

It's about half way down the list of forums under Misc.
Look for Clutches, Transmissions, axles or just click on the link above.
Do a search first on E4OD, it's a love it or hate it transmission, no shortage of opinions on FTE!

I'd prefer a ZF but I can't find one ...yet.
I have an I6/NP-435 drivetrain that will work for the F250. I will definitely miss the hiway performance of the 460 but not the gas mileage .I hope to tear into the I6 engine over the holidays and see what it looks like.
