Adjusting Accelerator Pump on 4180 Carb.

What are the steps for adjusting an accelerator Pump? I finally got my rebuilt 460 installed in my working F-350 flatbed. I did get the timing wrong,180 degrees out, but after a few minutes figured it out and it fired right up. This sucker is pretty tight. It didn't take long for the battery to get worn down. Once if fired up though it ran like a champ.

But need to know the steps for adjusting the Accelerator Pump. How do you go about using the feeler gage to adjust it? Step by step please. Not sure if you adjust it with the carb wide open or close at idle. Also what should be the break in process for this motor. I would imagine Freeway driving would be best for it. Also what are the pro's and con's for using synthetic oil.

Appreciate the help?

I am interested in hearing the pump setting process as well.

Back in the day when there was engine break in mentioned in the manuals freeway driving was not encouraged but driving at different speeds and no panic stops or starts was encouraged.

Some gas vehicles ship from the factory with synthetic oil today. While motor oil is more of an emotional issue than anything else I expect you will be OK either way. At one point there was even Break-in oil.

The accelerator pump on my bike is adjusted with the throttle closed sooo...take that for what it's worth.

I break in new engines on dino oil and switch to synthetic. I run good conventional in my truck and change it every 3000.
