What do you want out of a code reader? If it's simply to "read" the stored codes and be able to erase them, get what I did.... Found on ebay the INNOVA Model 3130. Inexpensive and tells a lot for your 6.0.
If you want a computer (laptop) diagnostic SYSTEM, hold on and others will be by with their ideas.
Forgot - you need to get the enhanced Ford expansion as well as the base software. The truck is OBD-II compliant to a degree, but most of the sensors on the diesels need the enhanced software to read them right. That is the same reason that the $50 readed from the local auto parts store WON'T work.
I recently purchased the AE w/ford pkg , the software is pretty complex to utilize it fully I felt there should have been more ford specific instruction relating to our trucks and how to setup and use the package in realistic terms. Most capable for code reading though, when scanning my 03 6.0 it came up with an( instrument cluster short to ground) ,I'm thinking fog lite mod that I did , and it showed( idle speed control active),I'm thinking the hi idle mod I did.I thought it was pretty impressive.Oh one thing I cant figure out is how to program speedo no instruction on that?

Can you tell me more about how you fix the instrument cluster shorted to ground error?
The tire size thing.. I thought you can just program that on the dash?
The Tirepaq can be found for around $150-$180, the dealer can reprogram for up to 35" tires. Tirepaq will do it as well as read codes.
The only bummer with Tirepaq is it can't datalog, graph, run test or help you diagnose sensors. Also with the AE you can change your tires up to 40". The dealer can change your tire size but finding one that can figure out how to go larger than what came on it is few and far between.
Unless the OP only wants to do very basic stuff the AE is more bang for the buck, no matter where it is purchased. IMHO
