emergency oil leaking like crazy!!

alright so i started my truck this morning and bam a foot diameter oil puddle under it from over night, drove it 200km did an oil change drove it back another 200km and its almost empty its at the back around the turbo, not sure the exact location, i am at high km's on the motor and its not leaking in my valley its further towards the tansmission, any input of what could it possibly be that is leaking like constant on the top back of my motor would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Is the oil dripping down the back of the motor and leaving a big puddle, or are you burning the oil and leaving a smoke screen? If it's oil on the ground, I'd guess turbo pedestal o-rings. If you're leaving a smoke screen, I'd say turbo rebuild time.

What do you consider high mileage?

The turbo oring are not that bad of a job. The hardest part is the up pipes clamp on the back. Check your up pipes for leaks while you are in there, dont want to do the job twice. I will look for a link for you.

The link above has info for the o rings also. When you do this alot of stuff is out of the way, you may think about checking torque on your injecters, check you glow plugs and anything else that is easy to get to now.

If you have your tools handy and its your first time and thats all your going to do is replace the pedestal and turbo o-rings give yourself 2.5-3.5 hours if you can get the exhaust clamps off OK. My first time it took me a hour to get the down pipe V-clamp off.
The next time I could take the turbo off in 20 minutes.

I guess the severity here depends on how big your head is.

Pedestal o-rings is something you can easily do in your garage. The hardest part is leaning so far over the hood and then pulling the turbo out after it's disconnected. A second set of hands would be helpful. So would some type of padding so you can lay across the motor.

While pedestal o-rings sound like the most likely issue, you really need to verify the source of the leak before you go and yank everything apart. If it's those particular o-rings, there should be some sign of oil in the rear part of the valley. There are 2 o-rings between the pedestal and the block, and 2 between the pedestal and the turbo.

If necessary, poke around with a white rag on the end of a stick until you find your oil slick. I'd hate for you to pull the turbo and the leak be somewhere else.

possible cummins swap if the 7.3 goes

If you want to do the swap then just keep letting the oil leak, the 7.3 will go then. LOL
