Voltage Dropping intermittenly every +/-6 seconds?

I have a 1996 F-150 with 220,000 miles 5.0L V8;

I am having a problem with the voltage dropping every 6 or so seconds and then going back to normal? It sounds like a "clicking noise" and then the voltage drops, the noise goes away, and the voltage goes back to normal. I first thought that this could be a voltage regulator? Any ideas or comments are appretiated!

Are you sure the AC compressor is not cycling. Maybe the defrost is on. That will cause this. If that is the case, it is normal.

This is highly likely, and if the compressor cycles often, as mine does, it's very noticable.

It acts like it wants to stall sometimes too. It does not matter if the heater/AC is on it will still do it.

Check all the relays. If something is shorting out, the relay will kick in and out, instead of a fuse, just blowing. Under the hood are boxes. Pull the covers and listen. Does it only happen when it's running? Some thing is trying to tell you something. Let us know how it goes.
