Added some weight to the bed... Pics!

So with hunting coming up, a few trips to Flagstaff AZ ,Colorado, and snowboarding trips I decided to add a little weight to the bed for better winter/snow driving. I know you are supposed to put the weight over the back axle AND secure it so it isn't a hazard so this is what I cam up with. What do you think? Took about a hour and cost me $30. The net has nothing to do with securing the weight, but I think I might put a couple of tie downs over it yet. Should I get stuck I got the sand, gravel to help get me out too! I like to be safe rather then sorry and always be prepared! I got 400lbs in it right now...

NICELY DONE! You might want to paint or poly the wood. Others may want to use treated lumber if they make one, since it's exposed to the elements.

But again, looks great!

Very nice! My old truck had several bags of quikrete concrete that got rained on, so they stayed there as my added weight lol.

I like the excuse of keeping weight in the bed in the winter. It lets me procrastinate on taking stuff out. I've probably got about 200# of random tools and junk back there now... Bedcovers are nice.

I always ran with cat litter, sand, shovel, straps, a come along and a milk crate full of chains.

No weights for me. I just don't drive in snowy or icy conditions. I'm a southern boy and retired.

looks good. will be easy to tear down and store for next year

IMO, i dont mess with adding weight. I use the bed too often and I believe that 400 lbs does not add much of a difference at all. 1000 lbs and maybe we are talking.

One rain and you'll have 80# blocks of concrete! Nice idea, but I'd take the concrete back and get bags of playground sand.
