Post Need help on Tonneau cover decision for a 2010 F150!

I am looking for pictures and opinions on a couple options for a tonneau cover. I am looking at the A.R.E LSX and LSII and also the Leer 700. I am really looking for pictures of them on truck as they are hard to find pictures. I really wanted the sung top but there is not a dealer anywhere close and I am not paying them to ship it to me. Thank you in advance.

I have a Extang Full Tilt, and I love it. It has a bit of the appearance of a covered wagon, but I don't mind that. What I like is that it raises up like a hood, and removes in seconds if you have to move something. I also like that it does not require any drilling on the truck.

My brother bought the truxedo, and it has a flatter appearance. It folds into 3 pieces and removes just about as easy. Both of them sit about 1 inch up from the top of the bed at the edge.

If you want a really flat appearance then I would suggest the roll up mechanical roll up version because it is truly flat across the top of the bed.

Fiberglass covers are nice because they are painted to match your truck. Other than that, they don't have much utility. You can't stand on them, they are very heavy, they are not easily removed, etc.

Undercover only comes in black, but you can stand on it, it's easily removeable, and only weighs about 62 pounds. Buy one from an authorized dealer before 1-30-10 and Undercover will give you a FREE Swing Case!

here's pics of a F150 that has some type of Leer fiberglass cover: SEMA Auctioning a Custom Ford F-150 for Charity - PickupTrucks.com News

looks pretty bulky. Not much utility either like Truckdaddy mentioned.

I prefer the hard folding covers like the Bakflip (which I have), or the FoldaCover. The hard rolling covers are nice too but tend to leak some near the tailgate.

I Have a Bakflip & it is no where close to being watertight.

^I didn't mention about the Bakflip leaking, I was talking about the rolling/retractable covers. In my past experience with a RollnLock cover, it leaked near the tailgate. Other retractable cover owners reported the same thing.

My Bakflip HD is watertight, many others have reported the same. The only place I had some drips was along the front bed wall, but some additional weatherstripping placed along that top front edge fixed that. Tell us where your leakage problems are occurring, maybe we can help.

Leaks along side rails, around edges of rubber hinges & a LOT along tailgate. I have taken it back to the factory 3 times & showed it to the company president. No joy. Apparently they were never designed to be watertight & never will be.

Undercover. Its light, rugged, quickly removed and inexpensive compared to glass version.

My Extang Revolution leaks a little at the tailgate, but it's easy to install and very practical.

Funny, I never had any leakage. I take my truck through the auto car wash all the time with computers in the bed, and they only have small drops on the boxes.

Option to consider

ACI Agricover has a "Literider" tonneau that fits between the rails and
steep velcro locking ramps which keep the cover smooth. Good roll up
and latching and a simple tailgate locking mechanism which works very
well with locking tailgates on 09/10 models. I chose this so I could add
stainless bedrails and have a cohesive look. If anyone would like photos
pls email to oconnorsv@aol.com
