Looks like we might be taking the Ford afteral.

lol...to be hones id rather risk the e4od in O/D than trust that the dakota automatic would hold up....lol.....

Yeah... No doubt. And mine has 217K miles. The Dodge has less than 50K.

I use OD when towing ONLY on flat ground and after reaching highway speeds........Any uphill grades or downgrade, and its back to 3rd............not worth risking a trans, even with a big trans cooler on a E4OD.

^Old93, my E4OD truck(with the towing/cooling packages) doesn't tow, but hauls 1000-2000 pounds of payload semi-regularly. Otherwise it racks up its miles empty. Does it need a larger cooler?

Probably fine the way it is, but it will never hurt to buy some insurance with a big aftermarket trans cooler...................Who knows what you might want to tow home in the future!

I replaced the stock HD "stacked plate" type for a 18"x18" Hayden cooler...............I have never had a hot trans since, even after towing a 12,000lbs 26ft cabin cruiser over to the coast for a friend.(hopefully that boat will never come back from the coast)
