I am wondering if it is possible to add a bit of Methanol to the tank in the winter as an anti-gelling agent. Would this cause any harm to the 7.3? Would it help performance? Any blenders or chemists in the group?

 

You definitely don't want to do this if you are running biodiesel. It could precipitate out some glycerin if the biodiesel reaction is not complete.

 

No, you don't want to run methanol in with the diesel. It's not good stuff to be running through the injectors.

People run methanol injection, but it's on a sprayer system hooked up to the CAC.

 

I no longer run biodiesel after being stuck for a week last summer in Wyoming. It may have also happened with dino but I no longer take the chance. I just have a bit of MEOH on hand and thought I'd put it to good use but I guess not. Thanks.
