I have no idea if this is a silly question but were airbags available as an option in the 1991 f150 of are there airbags from a different model that would be compatible?
I was told airbags weren't put in trucks till '94. They said look at your steering wheel. If it doesn't say " SRS " ( Supplemental Restraint System ), it doesn't have them.
The first year for the air bag in the F150s was 94. There is only one air bag on the steering wheel. I personally think that adding them would be quite a bit of work to retrofit it and wouldn't mess with it. Dual air bags were not available until 97. Why do you want to add it, is it for safety or do you just like the steering wheel better?
I believe it would be a fairly involved swap. There is also the light in the instrument cluster, so that is different as well. You would need the sensors that mount to the radiator support, the wiring harness, and probably the entire steering column.
