Introducing myself.. new 01 owner
Hello all, name is Bernard from Maryland. After a solid 9 months I finally sided with getting the PSD Excursion and after less then a week it has shown me what I have been missing for YEARS when it comes to towing. Drove away from lot in VA around 4pm, rented a trailer from Uhaul to tow the borrowed civic hybrid home couldnt tell a trailer was back there (ok the civic weighs 2400 lbs nothing to celebrate about). Got home dropped the civic, get a call to move another car just a Mitsubishi Galant. After 50 mile trip (roundtrip) Im backing the trailer in the driveway. As fate would have it I get yet another call, by now its 9:30pm or so and just for giggles I accept. This time the vehicle is 97 4runner, again nothing heavy but at least it is another SUV. This trip was 150 miles round trip, needless to say by the end of the night I was very comfortable with the Excursion!
I am used to towing with my old 2004 jeep grand cherokee 4.7L good power, great offroad, comfortable. Downside is as soon as I add weight mpg would drop to 8, that means frequent stops for gas. Notice the suspension sag and it has the factory tow package.
Prior to that and possibly my all time favorite all around SUV 97 Isuzu Trooper, never let me down..hauling, offroad, stout it was my best friend. That poor little 3.2L (which I had to rebuild) just couldnt pull uphill without getting in the far right lane with the hazards on which is embarassing especially when Semi's are going passed. Anyway best offroading SUV I have ever driven, left stock and gave confidence..
Sorry for the long rant, but all in all I am pleased. I am at home with turbocharged vehicles so only a matter of time before I get the edge evolution or something of the like.. took one photo thus far but knowing me it will be many more to come

Hey Bernard,
Welcome - make sure you stop down to the MD chapter if you haven't yet. Little more info on the scurge - model year, 6.0 or 7.3? If 6.0, go SCT for tuner, if 7.3, then DP tuner seems to be popular. There are also specific forums for each motor, stop down and check out the stickies as well, lots of good info.
Oh BTW, what part of MD?
Just noticed it's an 01.
