Dana 70 Carrier identification. (65 F350)
G'day again guys.
I've just bought an old dunger 74 F350 for its Dana 70 with 4.10 gears. It has 23 spline axles. I'm swapping it into my 65 F350 slick. That way I'll get handbrakes in the rear drums instead of the back of the gearbox, 8 lug wheels instead of 6 (better choice of alloy dually rims) and the 4.10 gears I was chasing for croozin..
I'm hoping someone can identify it for me. Please have a look at my garage pictures.
The other center, the original out of the 65 F350 in obviously some sort of LSD or sure-lok with 4 pinions and 5.125 ratio, but what exactly is it? It also has 23 spline axles. (I know I cant use the carrier with a set of 4.10 gears.)
The original diff will go on ebay shortly and hopfully I'll raise some more funds to help cover the cost of a new LSD carrier to suit the 4.10 gearset.
Can someone tell me exactly what centers I've got please?
How good/strong are they?
What type of LSD center would be better for a daily driven cruiser?
Oh yeah, can I bolt up a 351 Cleveland to the the NP435 bell-housing to replace the 240 six? I have heard I can use the flywheel as well. Is that so?
How strong are the NP435s?
My clevo makes around 450 hp and 450 ft/lbs. give or take a few, so I'm hoping it'll last for a while.
