[quote=Eagle Country;8198080]ARDWRKNTRK,
Yea I think your right on that one the more I keep reading around the net I'm finding it may be the timing chain and the retarded timing. I did but the timing light on the motor and did look at the advance and retard and the marks don't move around. So I think I'm going to rebuild the carb. and see if I can get a new timing chain. quote]

If the marks don't move, rebuilding the carb and replacing the chain will net you nothing,,,, if your engine is running, and you have a light and can see the marks, and when you rev the engine and the marks don't move,,,,check your dist. vacuum advance module by taking the cap off, and watching the plates as you or your assistant suck on the vacuum line and see if it moves, if not, you are not getting enough advance for your engine to run at higher rpm's, you should have at a min. 20*+ of advance.

Eagle Country is starting off with a positive reputation.
I do have advance I was replying to an earlier question from him to see if the timing marks moved around when giving it gas. To me it seem i'm getting to much advance on this thing. I'm going back out today to really clean the damper and paint it so I can really see my numbers. I did clean it off and used grease pen marks but I really want to see all the numbers. The problem is when I'm in 2nd and 3rd gear and I get up near 2800-3000 on tach with WOT she starts to break up.

Talking

I got it! I started all over again removed everything! Regaped the plugs at .50 instead of .46 and set the timing up to 10*. I took her out for a ride and she ran GREAT! I was able to pull over 3k in 2nd and 3rd gear with no problems now. So who knows what it was. I had gone over everything 10 times so I don't know what would have changed. So now that I baselined the engine and got her running well, I will be adding a new timing chain to set it straight up and rebuild the carb. to see if I can get more jump. Thanks for all our help. Jim
