temp gauge sending unit location

Im tryin to hook up an aftermarket temp gauge but i cant find the sending unit.

i have found the one for the computer (to the left of the distributer) with 2 wires coming out of it.

my chilton book showed the location of the one with 1 wire (sitting next to the distrbutor) but there is nothing there.

i have torn down a 1987 302 b4 and what Looked like the sender was at the Very back of the engine in the block itself (basically in an impossible to get to spot)

Oh and will aftermarket gauges work with the stock sender or do i have to use one for it specifically?
because i want to keep the stock gauge hooked up

It's on the drivers side front water passage in the lower intake.

I have 2 on my 96 5.0. One is lokated at the front of the engine, in in the intake, almost in the middle, it was on a tree. The other senser was located on the right/drivers side, I think it was hidden by the main wiring harness, or the ignition coil, but it goes right into the intake.

Have a look at this pic, the dash temp sensor is right in front of #5 injector, it's the small round thing with the stud sticking out the top.

Thumbs up

Alright thanks alot guys i found the stupid little thing,
I was practically looking at it the whole time

Now the question is can i just splice into it for the aftermarket gauge?
Or do i have to put a T or Y connection on it for another sender
