Disconnect your battery and remove the PCM along with it's mounting bracket. That will open things up a good amount for you. And, always, do the most diffucult to reach one's first.

You broke the tap off in the ground shield?

I screwed the tap too far and it broke the shield in half. The porcelin pushed into it and broke it in half. With part of the shield dropping into the engine.

Gotcha. OK, try rigging up a vacuum probe. I used duct tape and some flexible tubing (like vacuum line tubing you get a Autozone) to attach the tubing to my shop-vac. I swept around the cylinder to make sure i got all the porcelain.

If the bottom of the shield is loose in the cylinder you should also be able to use a probe covered in grease retrieve it, then sweep the cylinder with the vacuum. You can also try one of those flexible "grabber" from your local auto parts store.

I did the same thing on with a different plug. I think they are breaking when I am pushing the porcelin before I put the extractor in. The instructions say not to worry this would'nt happen. My biggest problem now is if I cant get that piece of plug out and run the engine I will really damage it.
