I do like the 78-79 better myself. Very clean and masterful modernisation of the grille. Frequently a face lift doesn't work. This one does. Thoroughly perfect transition from the "old school" 77 and prior F series to the up coming generations.

Early grille, partial to the '73-'75 inserts. The round headlights just have a more classic character to them... gives the truck a more friendly look, like a big, friendly old dog.

I think 76 was the best year. You get open knuckle front end, front disks, and a FE engine.

Although I own both a 76 and a 79, I would have to say the 76/77 is the best, especially with the amber lights in the front, which I don't have(mine are clear). The black around the headlights sets off the front perfectly.
The chrome grille on the 79's is a close second--my other truck.

All the dentsides are good!

JBandit03, I'm seeing the stylin' classic look that you see with the '73-'77 and I like it, but I gotta' give points to the aggressive look of the '78-'79. Guys we can't go wrong here 'cause they all kick butt!! Yah Baby, Ow, Woo, Yah!!!

I can't believe ther is currently only 88 votes on this thread, I know there are more than 88 73-79 dent owners on this forum. I guess the 73-77 grills win!!

It doesn't surprise me in the least, the 73-77 split grilles are a more classic old school design, elegant and aestethicly pleasing yet menacing looking at the same time, the 78-79 "egg crate" grilles were simply a precursor of the hideous grille design to come in the 80's.

Maybe its just me getting older as my truck I was always partial to the 78-79 grill but as I have gotten older I prefer the look of my 77.
