Unhappy Turn signal switch loose metal strips

I recently pulled my steering wheel to see why my turn signal switch wasn't working
and found two metal strips lying loose in the works.
Can any one tell me from where they belong?

What year and model truck do you have?
What was wrong with your turnsignals?

If I remember right the older trucks had a cancel cam that would rub against 2 prongs that would turn off (cancel) the turnsinals. If this is what was happening to you, then those strips are part of the cancel cam assembly and you will need a new one. I thought I remember those beeing plastic though, and that was the reason they would break.
