got a parts truck yesterday

i found this on craigslist thursday and had it trailered to my house yesterday. 1977 F150 4x4.
the sheet metal is in very good condition. i will be transferring most of it to my truck 78 F150 4x4. no engine, transmission or transfer case. the other 2 matching tires/rims are in the back. unfortunately i probably won't get started on this till the spring.
here it is in my driveway:

and on craigslist where i picked it up.

i do have a couple of questions. it has 36 inch tires on the back and the other 2 in the bed are the same. seems it may have a lift on it. what should i be looking for? would 36s fit without a lift?

secondly it has a second gas tank but he filler is inside the rear wheel well in the front. is this something stock? or did a po rig this up himself? i have not see this before? the tank selector is on the inside on the cab floor next to the drivers seat. here is a pic.

36's do not fit on a stock half ton. i do not believe the front fuel tank is factory. Possibly a dealer add on. most of the trucks with a front tank had a hole cut in the side of the fender for the fuel filler. the front fuel door was not added until 78.

Wow, thats nice! Any reason why you aren't just going to fix that one? I'm kinda partial to the 1977s. haha. I really like the 77 grill actually.

That's a nice looking truck, sheetmetal looks nearly pristine, nice find, those saddle tanks are dealer installed, i have two 20gal. tanks w/filler necks that exit into the wheel well just as yours does and a tank selector mounted on the floor.

i like the 78 grill better. the grill one this one is beat up on the left hand side. i think there is a whole in the frame of the 77 as well. not sure what this is.

also i have spent the last 3 months getting the brakes wheel bearings and one of the hubs repaired/replaced on the 78.

thanks. does the gas gauge work like normal? do you know if it can be setup to use the selector on the dash?

The dealer installed saddle tanks didn't come with sending units, at least mine didn't anyway, so my gas gauge only reads my factory tank, you have a tank selector switch on the floor and on the dash?

no the 77 parts truck i picked up has one on the floor. my 78 has one on the dash.
i'm wondering if the saddle tank will work with the selector on the 78 on the dash?

yeah. there is a few door dings and a small rust spot about the size of a quarter on the passenger side cab corner. and a small spot on the passenger side wheel well. the rest of it is pretty straight.
