Okay ,here's the skinny . I went and looked at the 91 f250, 5.8, 2 wheel drive. It does have the OD button on the dash.It started rite up , no smoke idled high for about 2 min. then drove it seem to run very well. valve cover gasket's are leaking and i think the rear main seal is leaking. Looks like it has been leaking for awhile. built up on the exhaust pipe and the tranny is covered in oil and built up dirt.
Here is the vin # 2FTHF25H1MCA84954 so if you guys have the way to know what it is please let me know or let me know where to get the info it would be great.
So , i am under the impression that i should be able to drop this motor and computer into my truck with the stock wiring harness. All the plugs should be the same and have no major issues.
If i am wrong about this info someone please let me know......
Oh where can i get a list of engine code's that tell me what they are??? thanks

I don't think so. The 5.8 has a completely different firing order. Even being bank fired injectors, I don't think it would work at all. But he has the computer (I'm assuming) because of the mention of the donor truck. Use both the computer and the wiring harness that is already on the 351 engine. The Mazda 5 speed is a fairly weak transmission - that would concern me. The swap won't be a problem. Everything should bolt right up and plug right in. If memory serves, the computer doesn't give a damn if you have a 5 speed or an automatic...

The 302 fires 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
The 351 fires 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

Engine firing order doesn't matter with SD EFI, the injectors on 5.0 and 5.8 trucks are wired exactly the same. This will be a good donor motor but the computer is no good to you since that truck has a computer controlled E4OD transmission.

You're gonna love it! The 5.8 is a huge improvement.

I''ve successfully swapped computers from auto trucks to 5 speed trucks and never had an issue.

So i am a little up in the air.....Yes i will have the computer... i am picking up a driving 91 F250, 5.8, auto, 2wd , with the overdrive button on the dash... the truck is in working condition and will drive it home.
My plan was to swap out the motor and computer into my truck with the stock wiring harness...
Also doing some minor repair's while i have the motor out , ( i.e.) header's, ignition coil , plugs , wire's, cap, rotor,valve cover's, etc,

i also looked up the stock spec's from the 5.0 to the 5.8 and the HP is only like 20to 25 more from the 5.0 and the torque is like 40 more ft lbs . witch to me is not a lot more...

So , should i look for a different putter or what ?

You guy's are my only source of reliable ford info, should i look for a truck that had a c6 tranny .
The reason i am concerned, is the truck has to go through emission's and in CT if you have a check engine light on they automatically fail your vehicle.

I am trying to do this the right way..
