Not a whole lot of stuff out there, but I remember watching a show called "Rides" on TLC a few years ago. On this one show they showed Ford's engineering department "testing" a V10 that was slated for a Cobra concept car. They somehow stuffed a V10 into a Mustang test mule and were floggin the bejeezus out of it. The sound and performance were un-flippin-real. Ever since then I wanted to do something similar with a V10 someday.

I didn't realize it was a killer V10, but it makes sense. After all, Ford's got deep pockets and can do stuff like that without checking with the government first, unlike GM and whoever owns Dodge now...

The engine in this "test mule" was actually not even known about by Ford's "brass" until it was completed and the car had some testing miles under it's belt.
YouTube - Mustang v10 mule
It was built entirely "off the radar" by the advanced engine development team after normal work hours. Ford would have NEVER agreed to this project at the time it was done, and if they had known about it-several key members of the advanced engine development team would have been fired. If the reception by the magazines/public hadn't been so positive-they would have been hell to pay.

The sound of that V10 Mustang prototype is just awsome.

Developing and engine and advancing the Mustang makes a lot more sense to me that the Ford GT project did. I would be surprised if Ford made any money on the entire GT deal.
