Can the ccv o-rings be reused. They are in good shape but they seem to be too large to fit back in the groove they came out of. First time post here, I've been reading post and doing maintence on my 01 excur for a couple of weeks. I've got everything back together and can't get the o-rings to seat. Any help wound be appreciated. Sorry if this has been covered before but I couldn't pull anything up in search. Thanks hhcobra!!!
First off, Welcome to FTE. As I'm sure you already know, you can learn just about anything you want to know about these trucks here. As for those o-rings, I believe your issue is the problem with trying to re-use them, they swell and then won't go back in right. I don't have the link to Guzzle's site but I'm sure someone will get it for you. He's the guy to get the new ones from.
Pete, Thanks for the help. I guess it will have to wait till tomorrow. Went ahead and did the foil delete while it was apart. What a mess!!!! Later

Order the kit from Guzzle. Once the OEM o-rings are pulled off, they seem to not want to go back in. If you are in a pinch, you can sub in O-rings from a Home Depot or Lowes's from the plumbing section. 1.5" OD and 1.25" ID will do.

Here's a trick I did to use the same ones, I put just a little dab of Permatex gasket sealant, just enough to hold the gasket in place then installed it back on, been on and no leaks or seepage yet. But some new o-rings are very inexpensive.
^^^^^ agreed! i did the same thing and its been just fine. but when i did my father in law's truck i used new ones and it is much less frustrating.....
I did re use mine. I tried my best to get them back in place , but as stated they swell up and dont fit properly. Any way I took mine doghouse off a couple of days ago. They hadnt leaked but between the rocker cover and the doghouse was full of oil, spose it would of only be a matter of time. And as for pics. transfer form ya camera to your computer, resize em and sive to a folder. Open up an account with Photobucket. Upload your photos to there. When that is done there will be a link at the bottom of the pic. copy and paste in your post and you are done.
My orings came out in pieces when I did my CCV mod, well, that was 4 years ago, before Guzzle had his oring site, and I didnt want to pay $14 fro two orings from ford. I just used permatex, and it has been holding for 4 years now with no seepage. Just allow the permatex to cure for 8-12 hrs before you start the truck up.
Got it back together this morning using the 1.5"OD plumbing washers and no leaks!! Retorqued everything under valve covers and only two were off by a couple of inch pounds. Motor has 149,500. How often should this be done? Thanks
