Swapping a 5.4L non EGR with 5.4L EGR engine

I want to turn a EGR motor to non-EGR to work in my truck. I have a 2000 F-250 Super Duty 5.4L V8 non-EGR that has bad motor. I have located a 2001 F-250 Super Duty 5.4L V8 with EGR. I have been told two different stories regarding swapping these engines. One mechanic said that I would have to change intake as well as heads to make it work in my truck to make engine non-EGR. As another mechanic said I just need to swap upper/lower intake from my bad motor to make new motor work in my truck. I need help in getting correct information. I have searched forums for days and havent found any useful information. Thanks in advance for any help or direction.

5.4L Triton, EGR, non-EGR, Super Duty, 5.4, v8, upper lower intake, head, swapping, modular

If you're putting an EGR engine into a non-EGR truck,it's as simple as making or buying an EGR blockoff plate, and dropping it in. The heads are both identical, the only differences are the exhaust manifolds where the EGR tube connects, and the intake upper elbow where the EGR valve connects. You could also just as easily swap the entire intake manifold and not have to buy or make anything.

Thanks Johnny. That what I figured. I plan on just swapping the entire intake. which should make things simple and straightfoward. thanks again.

Don't forget that you'll need to use your current non-EGR exhaust manifolds as well.
