WOW! That looks awesome. I've always loved that paint scheme. Congrats on tracking down a family heirloom.

Just out of curiosity how much did the new bed set you back? My 73 is in dire need of one.

Thanks everybody, I am pretty excited about getting the old truck back. I konw there is an old picture somewhere of me and my Dad with the truck when I was about 8 yrs old. If I can find it, I want to take one now with me and Dad by the truck and frame them together with a caption "Same 2 guys, same truck, 30 years later. Dad's in his 70's now and things like that are getting more important all the time. Capitlj - The bed I got was rust free but had a pretty good dent in the drivers side, I gave $400.00 and felt that was pretty good even though I've got to fix a dent. A perfectly straight bed with no rust around here goes for at least $800.00.

We have identical interiors. Mine is a F150 ranger Lariat as well. I messed up though when I had my seat reupholstered. The original had buttons in it and elaborate piping. I got is as close to that as I could. Does yours have the vanity mirror and cruise control? From factory mine was black and white. Now its black and strawberry champagne metallic.

I got to looking at your receipts and just happened to notice the amounts for taxes. The one for the purchase of the truck was for 3.2-3.3% sales tax, and the one for the rust treatment was for 2% tax. Wow taxes were cheap back then!

BTW the truck looks good!!!

Virgojeep - very nice truck! Mine does not have the vanity mirrors or cruise, they seem to be about the only options Dad didn't order.
highboyman- I'll be done with the bed in a few weeks and will be sure to post more pics.
Countrywfo - I own a bodyshop for a living, so the paint job just cost's me materials.
dw_wanno - I sure wish we had those tax rates now!

What size are the new tires? Does it have a lift?

On the rust proof thing, it's pretty sad to think that even with an aftermarket rustproofing they only warrantied it for 3 yrs or 30,000 miles.

Tires are 33x12.50-15 bf goodrich all terrains on 15 x 10 wheels. Stock suspension - no lift at all.
yeah, rustproofing for only 3 yrs wasn't a lot of warranty but it did seem to help. The cab and front end only had surface rust where the paint came off the outside. It didn't have any holes and the floors and mounts are perfect.
