Interest: full float axle
If anyone in the Houston area has a decent (as in non-leaking) full float axle they'd like donate or to sell, i'm looking to replace my dana 60 semifloater. The recipient is an 83 F250 2x4. I have no clue how a truck with a tow package and 8800 GVWR has a semifloat...perhaps I should ask the previous owner...
Not posting in classifides because i'll hunt around in shops tommorow and be done with it
Also, if anyone has some suggestions as to what's best between a d61, d70, or 10.25 i'm all up for it (though it'd probably be better to post in the axle/dif/driveline forum). Should note it has a gooseneck in it also...

Have you ever thought about just converting your semi-floater to a full floater? Warn makes a kit for several axles including the dana 60 that converts it to a full floater with warn manual hub locks. The kits aren't cheap but at least you will know what you are getting as opposed to finding a full floater at a junk yard that possibly has a bent housing or something else wrong with it.
I haven't seen any prices for the dana 60 kit but back when I was looking at them for my 9in on my bronco they were running around 800 bucks.

There are tons of junkyards that are on the watts line in Houston. If I were you I would find a good 10.25 from a 3/4heavy or 1 ton. They are cheap to find and easy to put in. Come to think of it, If the pick a part junk yards (nort and south side) are still open you can get a good one ther really cheap.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Nov-02 AT 09:56 AM (EST)]I'm looking because of the issues with semifloater (both brakes and parking brakes are hosed, leak at the pumpkin, needs wheel studs), so that's why i'm not going to convert it 
I agree that there are axles at the salvage yards that look all right, I was just giving my fellow Texans a chance to offload something they needed to get rid of.
