'07 Expedition Chipped Key Programming??

A friend has two good, working, OEM chipped ignition keys. He wants to get a spare (chipped of course) and do the programming himself. I've done this on my Mazda Miata. Did a search... do these F150 PATS-II instructions apply to the '07 Expeditions??

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ogramming.html

PS... I've gotten keys off ebay for the Mazda. Any other decent places to pick 'em up for reasonable??

I dont think the keys can be programmed by the user. The FOBs can but not the keys.

Programming spare keys
A maximum of eight keys can be coded to your vehicle. Only
SecuriLock™ keys can be used. To program a coded key yourself, you
will need two previously programmed coded keys (keys that already
operate your vehicle’s engine) and the new unprogrammed key(s) readily
accessible for timely implementation of each step in the procedure.
If two previously programmed coded keys are not available, you must
bring your vehicle to your authorized dealer to have the spare coded
key(s) programmed.
Please read and understand the entire procedure before you begin.
1. Insert the first previously
programmed coded key into the
ignition and turn the ignition from
the 1 (OFF/LOCK) to the 3 (ON)
position [maintain ignition in 3 (ON)
for at least three seconds, but no
more than ten seconds].
2. Turn ignition from 3 (ON) back to
the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position in order
to remove the first coded key from
the ignition.
3. Within ten seconds of removing the first coded key, insert the second
previously programmed coded key into the ignition and turn the ignition
from the 1 (OFF/LOCK) to the 3 (ON) position [maintain ignition in 3
(ON) for at least three seconds but no more than ten seconds].
4. Turn the ignition from the 3 (ON) back to 1 (OFF/LOCK) position in
order to remove the second coded key from the ignition.

Your welcome.

Took me no time at all. The funny part was when I took the blank keys to the hardware to be cut. "These won't work, you know!" was their comment. "I know."

I had a non-pats key cut at the local store for a Focus and the clerk said "this will ruin your ignition, so don't use it for that"

Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot and a few other stores have a Store Policy now about PATS keys. They have a scanner that checks for the RFID in the key.

Their policy is a 100% refusal to cut or copy a PATS key. Even if you offer to sign a waiver.

I ended up finding an awesome gentleman who does Locksmithing. Charged me $2.00 to cut the Fusion key/fob that I use in my Stang. And he was very well versed in the whole PATS game. I highly suggest you find a local Locksmith. They will do a better job, and not give you any crap

I guess a valet or other criminal could get a pats key copied and add it without the owner knowing. Might not be a bad thing.

A valet or other criminal can easily copy a PATS key a long as he has two real ones and I only give them one (1).

Doh! Good point, hence the need for two keys. Nevermind.
