I am betting it is a thin piece of plastic with some marks on it. It would be very interesting to "measure" a brand new non gates belt and see if they say it is bad.

Thats nice of them! I just installed a new Gates belt on my F150 and my Ranchero not long ago.

 

Just filled mine out. Not expecting it to be anything fancy but can't argue w free

I haven't gotten mine yet, but Gates is a reputable outfit, I'm sure that I'll get one before the y3K crisus

 

I just got around to watching last weeks episode of 2 guys garage and they showed this gauge. It was a piece of plastic in a v shape that measures the depth of the grooves in the belt. Rather simple really.

Episode 807 - Carb Re-Build

 

Finally got my brand new belt tester (32 days later).

Probably about right -- pretty much like a rebate.

It is, of course, just a piece of plastic, but the instructions are nice and clear.
There's a finger hole that is apparently sized for a 5 year old, but it should be OK.

Will check it out after the 'snow of the century' that we're supposed to get.

It's been about a month or so since I ordered mine, so I guess it should be here soon.

 

got mine today,looks like a fancy toothpick but Ill give it a try . Ford2go is correct about hole size,,grrr
