usually got clogged up with mud then rust, eventually falling off. lol Good old Ford rust, but this box looks fairly decent.

Wish there was a way for ford to prevent the rust, but then they would never sell a new pickup!

Yes the ones from 67-72 were bad for that. The 73-79 the boxes that were mounted there would rust around the bolts and fall off there. It was a matter of making sure a person spray washes under the box to the side tool box. They would collect the dirt on them. Dodge trucks were really bad, I think Chevy was worst, That is probally why they never did them for only a year or two.

I think it was a Dodge I saw maybe toyota I forget, but the top of the boxside lifted as a tool box, it had slightly thicker box sides.

You know I could be wrong on the Chevy's. But I think it was a 73 model and there was just no demend for them on chevy's and 73 was a rust year for the newly designed trucks. I think it was trial thing by them.
Now Ford has that nice tool box on the sides of some trucks. They are usually a fleet vehicle for company's and they are a plain truck with not much for options. I only seen a couple of these 2008 and 9 option around town.
They should offer them more than fleet trucks. Farmers would love them for working on the farms.

I think most fleets are either going to Vans, or just full out service bodies. But for the independent contractor that still also needs something to drive for personal use is were I'd see them more useful.

I dunno about those new dodges and that toolbox in them.

Starting to seem like too many add ons to me, and I like that kinda crap!

The truck went for $301.00 That was a steal for someone. With the truck body looking in good shape they could probally fix it back on the road again.
