I'm picking up an 85' F250 4x4 from a buddy of mine in the next couple of weeks (he needs to get rid of it). The body is really rough but I am thinking about putting the body off my 95' F150 on it. Anyways, it has a 460 and a 4 sp manual trans (not sure which tranny or transfer case yet) a full floater rear axle and a really cool rear bumper that has a spring loaded reciever. I had an 86' F150 a couple of years ago but I really don't know much about the 3/4 tons so I am just looking to get some info on it.
Your 95 speedo may not work. Make sure the 95 has a speedo cable. If it's electronic, then you need the sensor in the rearend. I am not sure of the years when they changed this, but just something to look out for. Also, your later model fuel gauge may not work with the older sending units in the older truck's tanks. You could use the later tanks in the older truck, but I would venture to guess the newer truck is EFI and the older truck has a carb? So the newer tank sending units would have to be modified to get rid of the EFI fuel pumps.
Also, if you have inspections in your area, and you are going to use the 95 title, they will consider the whole thing a 95 and the older engine may not pass emissions.

I did already think about the speedo but not the fuel guage, will have to figure something about that one. Got lucky on the sniffer test though, in the area I live in, last year they decided not to test anything if it doesn't have OBD2 so last year was the last year I had to get it tested,,,won't be missing that, LOL. Thanks for the ideas Franklin, good things to be thinking about before taking on the project.
