FYI- The front axle in your truck is a D44HD-Not a D60.D60's only came in crewcabs. Also the 4.09 ratio means D44-D60's were 4.10 ratio only! Cool truck!

OK I saw the D60 cast in the housing & it is a 4.10

So now what ? I will try to get some picts

A guy came out & said it was a D60 LP with 4.10's

Looks allot bigger than my 44 in the F150 next to it.

I did some research on the possible Dana BOM (bill of materials) numbers for a 1976 F-250 w/Dana 44 axle- The BOM# is located on the tag that is bolted on with 2 of the front cover bolts. If the tag is missing Dana also stamped this number on the front face of one of the axle tubes-usually the long (passenger) side on Fords. The tag near the front cover will have a Ford 4 digit # with 1 or 2 letters following it.The Spicer # will start with a 6 and have 6 digits followed by 1 or 2 digits. Dana 44 4.09 open case could be 603424-1,603424-2,603783-1,603783-2, or 603783-5. Dana 44 4.09 Trac-Loc could be 603783-3 or 603783-4. Hope this helps!

Hi there,

Cool truck!! Wondering if it's still available? For what it's worth, I'm in Michigan and live near St Louis.

Thanks so much for your time.

That front got drum brakes? That looks like a low pinion 44. Those big hubs witht he huge allen bolts give it away. Or if its got drums it could be a low pinion 60. Either way they are both still boat anchors. If it was a high pinion open knuckle disc 60 then the price is right.

Well it has a little 60 cast in the front lower right hand of the pig, so Crazy you tell me, I thought all Dana's had the numbers cast into the axle housing.

Here is a 77 Highboy
I picked up last night what axles is this

It looks like a Dana 70

Around here clean trucks are hard to find, Let alone Highboys with 60's It was an old County truck HD 60's

A Dana 60 HP is worth more than a grand just my 2c

And I still can't believe this 76 Highboy stock truck is still around. I am gettin closer to the restore for myself.

But now this new truck has everything new in it. All rebuilt engine, trans, axles, tcase real solid.

Knock off the bashing or infractions will be handed out. Pricing is at the discretion of the seller, if you don't like the price don't buy it.

AFIK, there is nothing incorrect about the post here, but if someone has an issue with it then report it, don't start throwing fits in the forums.

what axle is this?

hey broncoholic i do like the pink chassis in your latest find!
is that the id tag on the diff housing i see if so thats all you need to find out what it is
mine was tuff to find i think like you said the housings dont lie if it says its a 60 then it is
dont the d60s have 35 spline outer axle shafts too right?
i think te d44s only had 30 so that is another way you could tell too
btw werent there snowfighters too?
they had 60s up front im not sure what years they were though...
good luck selling your truck!!!
