$6.00 Gal Delvac

Just got 4 gallons of Mobel Delvac 15w-40 at local Wal-mart for $6 a gallon. Don't know if it was a local sale and have never used it, but for that price I'll give it a try.

WOW. Guess I'll be stopping by Wally world tomorrow to see if they have the same deal here. Thanks for the tip.

Wow, great price. I have never tried the Delvac. How does Delvac compare to Rotella/ Delo in quality? I'm sure it is a decent oil.

If you've done the CCV mod, the Delvac stinks more after about 4,000 miles. That's about the difference. My UOA from Blackstone said it worked just as well as Rotella, Delo, & Valvoline blue in my engine.

WalMart has significantly better prices on oil than any parts store or feed/supply store in town here. I don't see how they even come close to competing. I didn't check out Mobil oil when I was there, but looked at Delo 400 LE 15W-40, Rotella 15W-40 and Valvoline Blue 15W-40. I'll have to see if that Delvac is on sale here.

Not trying to hijack here, but what's a good ball park figure for an oil change interval on those oils? 5-6k miles?

I had all my testing done at 5,000 miles. They all could have gone further, but I change mine every 5k.

Good deal. 5k miles is 1k less than what I'm changing synthetic at now w/o an oil analysis report. It's a write-off, but I'm sick of paying out the nose to run synthetic. I didn't notice any mpg increase, throttle response increase or quieting the motor down. I think all that is mental after being told or reading it would do that.

Delvac sounds like a decent oil, no doubt. Funny thing about the smell of oil. I have tried MC 15w40, Rotella 15w40 and presently using Delo 15w40. The Rotella had a weird smell fresh in the container. Neither the MC or Delo smelled like the Rotella. I guess certain oils have certain chemistry make ups??

Not a lot of differnce, with synthetic I don't get cold weather romps and can safely change at 10k miles instead of 5k with dino. That makes the price a wash with less work
This year may be some waste as the truck will only have 6k to 7k miles at the end of 12 months

Same here. I run the Delo 400LE. Great Blackstone reports say take it to 6k next time. I'm stickin' to 5k.

I just got back from WalMart and the Delvac was $10.50/gallon. It must be a local deal. I bought Delo 400LE @ $10.50/gallon. If I experience cold weather romps (which I didn't last winter w/ dino oil) I'll change back to synthetic. Maybe I didn't get the romps because I plugged the block heater in, IDK.

My engine is definitely quieter and doesn't romp with Rotella syn. I've been running syn oils almost all my life, and like how it works. Especially when cold. If you want to see the difference for yourself, buy a quart of syn Rotella and a dino of your favorite flavor. Put them both in the freezer for a day, then pour them both out...

My truck seems to run better on Delvac compared to Rotella (dino). It sounds like it starts better and idles a little smoother too. I haven't used Delo, but I used Rotella (dino and syn) for about a year and a half before switching to Delvac 6 months ago. I'm happy and am going to stay on Delvac.

Just my .02
