Thanks for the comments guys, yeah, I'm sure impressed with the new 6.2's! Now I just have to get up the gumption to get a peformance tune without worring about the dealers shafting me on warranty issues (should there ever be any). Maybe next year!

Sorry it took me so long to reply!! I've been doing a lot of camping this year, and just heading out for another 2 weeks tomorrow.

Trailer is a 32' (I think it's 36' bumper to hitch), dry weight is 8500 lbs. So I So I figure with water and gear it's around 9500. Nothing overly steep, though I do live in SW Alberta near the rockies, so yes, there's definitely some 5% & 6% hills I was on. I haven't tried any of the monster 8% or 9% grades yet though, to be fair.

Nice set up jimmyj9........I have this set up now(F150)but been looking for a few months at a F250 6.2(don't care for Diesel)but after looking, reading, talking the only differance I find between 250 and 350 are rear springs so its F350 SD,CC for me....I need a bigger 5th wheel down the road but the 08 F150 trk needs to be replaced 1st.....Big pic sorry..

I like reading this forum,it helps me out more then the salesman hahahaha.........I getting 17.3 on the hwy empty and about 15 in town with the f150 5.4 CC but pulling I drop down to about 11mpg so going to a F350 6.2 gas won't be that big of a change.....

I just picked up a 6.2 2011 F250 and Im a former Diesel guy... this mid sized gas motor has alot of forward motivating prowess. It def. destroys that old anemic 5.4 modular motor and Its about as stong as my old 6.6 duramax once you get over the initial low end torque of it. Im impressed. Its a very refined motor and has power to boot.

Another soldier in the war against Diesel !!! Congrats on your truck, how is it equipped? I wish the guys at the Ford plant would get off of their A$$ and get mine out the door already.

I'm glad to keep hearing these great reports on the power of the 6.2. I ordered mine w/o driving one first, and I can't wait to see how much better it is than my '05 5.4 SD.

Congrats on the new truck guys. Not only is the 6.2L a nice upgrade from the 5.4L for the SD the rest of the truck is very nice as well. Its really smooth out on the open hwy and very comfortable.

In my case I got out of an '01 v-10 (really good truck) but the increased hp of the 6.2 plus the six speed tranny is a very well designed setup. As far as I can see (only 1500 miles) this '11 should do very well for all around driving, pulling , working, etc.

I got the 3.73's so around town (Austin, TX) gas mileage is a little bad but the V-10 wasn't any better.. I'll be doing some straight highway empty midweek & Highway -towing Later in the week so we will have a better idea of all around...

Also down here it's been upper 90's every day since I got the truck so the AC has been blowing full blast & That drag doesn't help anything when talking about mileage.. But the dog doesn't like it hot

Congrats on the new ride! I noticed in your profile that you are running BFG 285's. Did you even drive it with the stock tires? If so, did you notice a difference (loss or change in power/mileage) w the larger tires?

If you read my earlier posts, I am changing to OEM 20" wheels and tires and am stressing about it!!!

Thanks!

Loss in mileage... Actually not much if you do the conversion.. ie..My original tires were 660 rev/mile and the 285's are like 630 rev/mile so if my math is right I multiply by 104.4444% the miles per tank to get more accurate idea - but the computer doesn't know that - so yea - milage suffered by computer..

They (285's) are heavier but not an issue with me - I have been running them for over a decade ( BFG M/T 285/16's on my '97 & '01) - They will churn the mud..

Agreed, great tires! Those are the exact set that I have on my '05 SD. Hearing good things about the Michelin LTX's, everyone says that they perform way better than they look (for not having a very aggressive tread).

Love the BFG's, though.

Haha, I still love diesels, but I think the new ones are silly unless you're pulling everyday. When the dealer said "exhaust fluid" I almost spit my coffee in his face.

Thanks for the congrats man, I am stoked. My first new truck ever and its great. Other than the fact of being a nervous wreck driving it down the road.

Its the XLT enhanced package or whatever they call it. Its 4X4 with the TqShift 6 Spd, Crew Cab. Its dark blue in color. SOF 4x4 with diff lock which I can see being a nice addition in the snow and in the river mud where we fish sometimes. No fancy computer screen here, knowing me I'd be staring at it in amazement and crash!

I love it and I am impressed by the 6.2... def a nice change over than 5.4L boat anchor.
