We have a "Duramax Down"

Just crossed the Continental Divide near Butte, MT and saw a 2011 Duramax 3500 pulling a goose neck horse trailer at 4 mph with it's flashers on.

They were a steady and consistent flash at 37 flashes per minute (FPM). I checked the Chevy Flash Distress Log for 37 FPM and it says, "Howie has been called".

I was going to video it and post it but decided against it. No, I didn't stop!! LOL

I thought those D'maxes pull so well at elevation...

I hope you at least waved sympathetically and had a concerned look your face as you drove by... ;-0

I lost a duramax in '07, never looked back.

To be honest, I see more 6.0's on the side of the road than any. Always feel bad for 'em.

Remember we need not get arrogant about this...ANY truck can break. We've had a few 6.7L owner's stuck on the side of the road recently.

Would any of you like a Chevy owner honking at you if your truck was broken down?

And we don't know what kind of animals he/she had in the trailer. An empty horse trailer should not have been that challenging. Maybe he/she was taking it easy on the cargo... Some folks travel in their horse trailers too...

Could also be something like less than spectacular maintenance, leading to empty DEF, leading to limp mode.

I agree! I'll keep in mind that what happened in the following link could happen to me when I feel the urge to poke fun at people who have trouble with other makes.

If I see a horse trailer on the side of the road, loaded and in distress, I don't even look to see what's pulling it. Unimportant. Getting the animals and their driver the help they need and safely off the road is. That's the reason I need to get a fifth wheel hitch, I don't have one now, just bumper pull.

Just to clarify, Shepardson said the truck was still moving albeit slowly. Of course any one of us would pull over and help regardless of truck make. He was just sharing a little smile within the Ford enthuiasts crowd.

Can't let brand loyalty get in the way of the golden rule. You know help other truckers as you would want other truckers to help you. Good time to talk them into a Ford.....

I thought the golden rule was that he who controls the gold makes the rules!
