R&R Transfer Case Motor

I have two questions on replacing the shift motor on the transfer case. Number 1 how do you get the pins out of the old plug? Is there a tool that is used?
NUmber 2 it looks like the original shift motor had a thin layer of silicone applied between the tc and the shift motor, is this correct? It would be a good idea I think anyways.

Thanks Matt

To remove the pins, what I use is a small screwdriver like those used by watch makers. It's a little difficult to explain how to do it, but you push the small screwdriver into the connector at the pin you want to remove and depress a small clip that's part of the connector then it'll pull out. There's usually a small slot the screwdriver fits into, but not always. Once out, to reinstall the pin, usually the small tab that was depressed will need to be bent back out slightly to hold the pin in. The silicone you noticed is actually dielectric grease to prevent corrosion of the contacts.
