Interior door and window handles removal ?

Okay , I got the door hinge pins out and the hinges removed from jam . I started to remove all of the hardware from the doors . The handles are held on different than I expected I can't find any spring clips to remove . How are they held on and how do I remove them ? One door handle has a metal cover and the other has what looks like vinyl between it and door . I can push the vinyl one back but not the metal . I am new to working on fords of this year , 1951 F-1 . Worked on brand X to long I guess . Thanks ahead for any help . JIM P.S. I tried the search but it would not work , I don't think it was F T E , I think it was my cheap hand me down P.C

I believe they should be the same as '49 thru '50. Pull the 'rossette', round cover, out and there is a pin that holds the handles is place. You can use an awl or small nail to push the pin out. Hope this helps.

The cover is made in two pieces so one slides into the other to reveal the cross-pin in the handle. Push the smaller part into the larger base and you'll see the pin. The rubber/vinyl ones stiffen with age, but the good news is they are reproduced.

I prefer the metal 48-50 style.

The pin is tapered a dash so if you tap it and it doesn't budge, try the other end.

Also, the handle has 4 holes in it so you can mount the handle in different positions on the shaft. If you can't find the pin in one batch, look in the other - 90 degrees off.

Be very careful when tapping it not to hit it hard enough to cause it to rotate and brake the spring on the inside mechanism.
