Hi all

I was cleaning out the 98 Explore I just bought and realized it has the amp/subwoofer combination in the rear passenger side. Upon inspection, I found that it is not working...I removed the panel to find the sub is mangled. Looks as if the previous owner couldn't get it out and tried the hard way.

My questions are;...

1. Do I have to track down a factory sub or can I just put an aftermarket sub in there ?

2. How do I get that thing out of there ? Looks as if the entire panel has to come off to remove the enclosure...the sub seems to be bolted in from the back ?

Looks like it's going to be a lot of work...any suggestions on how to make this go easier ?

Download the install sheet for the mtx thunderform It gives step by step instructions to get the subwoofer out. If the sub woofer speaker is just bad there are aftermarket 4 ohm speakers that will work. The speaker has a bolt or nut holding it on the backside of the enclosure.
