recall : SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH INSPECTION
#31
ok everyone i went to my local stealership right after work and got the recall preformed
luckily i know the parts guy the mechanic that worked on my truck and the service manager so i have no issues
i made sure they all knew not to touch anything but the recalled part and i advised them before they even opened the hood that the switch would be leaking ... service manager askes in her words " what do u know that i dont"
well i explained that i wanted the whole switch replaced not just a fuseable link and she looked up the diffrence between a leaking switch and a non leaking one and was surprised that i was right AGAIN

I have noticed some break fluid on my floor mat under the break cylinder. Is this from the switch in the recall, or is this just some thing I need to fix? Not at all happy to have a stealership touch my truck.

I work at a dealership and if you take your truck in they will do any and all open recalls on the vehicle. You can however request certain recalls to not be peformed.
The speed control recall does not require any reflash or update to the PCM so don't worry about that.
Any specific questions you guys have I will be more than happy to answer.
I will also run an Oasis for anyone to see what, if any, open recalls there are on their vehicle.

I know some dealerships can be pretty shady about the reflash stuff so I probably shouldn't have said that they won't be doing anything like that with this latest recall, after all you know what you do when you ASSume things!
We are pretty honest at our dealership and don't do any updates or work that isn't requested and sometimes I like to think that all dealerships are like that but as we all know that is more dream than reality.

Took my truck to dealership this morning and was told my truck did not have a recall. Tried to tell them what I read on the FORD RECALL site and was still told my truck was not listed. So went to parts counter and they showed me the recall and my truck was listed, told the parts man what the service rep told me and he said he would sell me the fix part for $10. Go figure.

x2, but it took ~30 minutes because they ran a complementary inspection on my truck. They didn't replace the button because they said it looked good.

Is it normal for the CPS to have oil on it when you pull it? I swapped a gray one in tonight and when I pulled the black one out, there was some oil on the end of it (not the o-ring). Also put two padlocks on the data jack under the dash. Think they'll get the hint?? It goes in for the recall at 8am.

Just got back from the dealer. It took all of 20 minutes for them to check the CPS, install the harness and do one of those complementary checks. They did a nice job installing the harness. It would look like its always been there if everything else wasn't covered in dirt. So you guys know, Gilboy Ford in Whitehall PA seems like a decent dealer. They already had 5 people in when I got there, and that was 10 minutes before the shop opened!
