Why are you changing the air filter at 20,000 miles?

Where do you get CJ4 oil for $12 for five gallons? I pay $19 a gallon for the Shell Rotella full synthetic 5w-40.

Suggest you check your book. I do not believe that FORD reccomends using synthetic oli.

I haven't seen where Ford recommends dino or syn. Just API ratings and weight pertaining to temp. and normal or severe duty.

Oil (~$11 per gal) and filters (~$17) from walmart. Fuel filter have to come off the web or your local dealer. Most change the oil and filter every 5k miles, fuel filters every 15k and the air filter when ever the minder tells you to change it. That could be as much as 60k or more miles (depending on the environment). It is not the same type of filter the 7.3 used. It is a high capacity filter that can hold several pounds of dirt.

11.55 for 5 gallons at wallmart. they didnt have any filters. advance had oil filters at 20 each and the air filter at crazy money, with no fuel filters.
for a 20k service it looks like oil/filter, and both fuel filters.

My manual shows synthetic 5W40 as a recommended or approved oil. Its one of the options on the chart and it covers all the temp ranges. It overlaps the 15W40 and the 10W30. Of course it says MOTORCRAFT 5W40 but it also says MOTORCRAFT for the 10W30 and 15W40 too.
