2007 Rear Wiper Arm Removal

Does anyone know how to remove the rear wiper arm on a 2007 Expy? I found the retainer nut and removed it but still can't get the whole wiper arm to come off. I'm trying to replace the strike plate that's on the inside of the glass and can't completely remove it without taking off the whole rear wiper arm. Thanks so much! Bob

Removal and Installation

1. CAUTION: Use a shop towel or similar device to protect the vehicle finish when carrying out the procedure. Remove the rear window wiper pivot arm.

o Lift the pivot arm nut cover.
o Remove the nut.
o Using a suitable 2-leg gear puller, remove the rear window wiper pivot arm.
o To install, tighten the nut to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) .

2. NOTE: This step makes sure that the wiper motor is in the PARK position. Turn the rear window wiper switch ON and allow the motor to operate for at least one cycle. Turn the rear window wiper switch to OFF.
3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

o Adjust the rear wiper pivot arm.

After the wiper arm is removed and you loosen the wiper drive shaft nut, there is a C-clip, flat washer and an O-ring on the shaft. If the shaft is not seized up, you should then be able to tap the shaft to the inside of the vehicle.

Then remove the plastic outer cover that hides a larger retaining nut that holds sandwiches the lift-glass handle to the window. After that nut is removed, then remove the 2 smaller nut/washer assemblies on the inside of the glass to completely remove the window latch/wiper shaft assembly from the window.

NOTE: the wiper shaft drive assembly has a spring loaded plunger on the inside that mates with the wiper motor drive. The spring loading feature means you do not have to be 100% sure the wiper motor is in the parked location and that the wiper arm assembly is also in the parked location when closing the window. If they do not match up perfectly, the plunger will depress and will drop into the wiper motor hole the next time the wiper motor cycles to the current location of the wiper.
